Sun Triology
Art by Lucinda Shon
Sun Goddess
Mother earth
cool to the touch
inside a fire rages
hanging in a universe untamed
on the hemisphere
the sun goddess emerges
mother earth a willing slave
as the first rays caress
as the first rays cover
all that is exposed
finding shadows that the earth
has hidden
light becomes everything
it warms
evaporating the moisture
the night
has laid upon it’s textured surface
dawn breaking
on the horizon
the goddess emerging
nothing can stop her
the earth bows
out of the darkness
the sky
a pallet
a blue canvas
the goddess will paint
another masterpiece
so effortlessly
The sun goddess rising slowly
calculated energy
a rhythm laid out
over millions of years
giving life to the mother
nurturing her
the sun goddess sees her reflection
in everything
the oceans a mirror
she is the brightest star
the lifeblood that runs
through mother earths veins
the rays reaching
the earth spinning in constant
motion
circling the goddess
in a ritual of time and space
ever so delicate this balance
a perfect union
of power and grace
She has done her duty
her allegiance to the day
fulfilled
mother earth in shadows long
she has been kissed
with a delicate fire
the sun goddess withdrawing
pulled by the horizon
that awaits
her majesty
tireless
she will burn on the other side
the world sleeping in stages
waiting for the warmth to emerge
from the darkness
the sky as complex
as a fingerprint
millions of sunsets
no two ever the same
mother earth our host
the sun goddess our essence
she retreats
merging with the horizon
we close our eyes and dream
of a new dawn
mother earth
once again
cool to the touch
bowing to her majesty
the sun
